gamern7: The romance between Fenris and mage FemHawke has to be my favorite of DA2. Just for the fact of the subtext behind it. Fenris hates mages and magic with just about everything in him. He has said that he sees magic as a sickness, a very stain on his very soul. As far as mages go, he would rather two things happen to them: be locked away in the Circle or death. Then comes along Hawke. He doesn’t trust her or her magic at first. Given what he has experienced with mages, his concerns aren’t at all unreasonable. But as he gets to know her, Fenris comes to realize that her magic isn’t a threat to him. She’s not like any other mages he has met before. Hawke’s kindness and patience with him is what leads to him falling in love with her. I like to imagine that after leaving Kirkwall, Fenris remains with Hawke. Once again on the run, but this time, it’s different. Fenris runs not to keep himself safe, but the woman he loves. The mage he loves. The irony is not lost on him, of course. Fenris is once again playing bodyground to a mage, but it’s a mage that he wants to protect.
